Welcome to the US Shock Society!  

The mission of the Shock Society is to improve the care of victims of trauma, shock, and sepsis, through:

  • Promoting clinically relevant research into the basic biology of trauma, shock, and sepsis
  • Providing a multidisciplinary forum to integrate and disseminate new knowledge in trauma, shock, and sepsis
  • Promoting the education and mentoring of the next generation of investigators in the field of trauma, shock, and sepsis

Shock Society 2019 Annual Conference - June 8-11, 2019
(Co-located with the 39th SIS Annual Meeting, June 5-8, 2019)


We are excited to announce that in response to the membership's request, the Shock Society and the Surgical Infection Society (SIS) will be having a co-located meeting in 2019. The leadership from both societies have jointly agreed on an exceptional venue at Loews Coronado Bay Resort.

What's New in SHOCK, March 2019?

The March 2019 issue of Shock provides a robust combination of clinical and basic science investigations addressing important gaps in knowledge in the fields of trauma, sepsis, and inflammation. The issue consists of 16 articles with specific focus on coagulopathy, blood transfusion, biomarkers, endothelial function, macrophage polarization, and cell-based therapy. We would like to congratulate all of the authors on their exciting work.

Fibrinolysis shutdown is an independent risk factor for increased mortality in trauma.
