Meetings Poster Presentation Guidelines

****New Opportunities for Networking at the Poster Sessions!****

At the upcoming Shock Society Meeting, we will hold Professor Rounds in each of the Poster Sessions. Two members of the Shock Society will visit each poster and provide feedback to the poster presenters. The goal of these Rounds is to provide an informal forum for networking and productive discussions.

POSTER PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

All poster presentations will take place at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Check the program onsite at the conference for the specific room location. Each poster board is marked with a unique board number. Your poster board assignment will be sent to you in May. Poster board numbers can also be found in the Program/Abstract Book which will be distributed at the conference.

The poster surface area is 4 feet high (121.92 cm) and 6 feet wide (182.88 cm). Plan your poster to fit this space.

The following guidelines have been prepared to help improve the effectiveness of poster communication.
  • Prepare a heading at the top of your poster indicating the abstract title, authors, and affiliations.
  • Summarize current research in graphic form whenever possible; use charts, tables, graphs, pictures, etc. and minimize the amount of text.
  • Prepare your presentation on poster size paper and mount on the board.
  • Posters should be self-explanatory but not comprehensive.  You will supplement and elaborate during your conversations with others.
  • Typeface should be large enough to be read comfortably by interested attendees from distances of 3-5 feet (1.5 m).  Keep visual materials simple and clear.
  • Display a copy of abstract.
  • Push pins will be supplied.
Poster Display Dates and Hours
  • All poster presenters must set up their posters between 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM the day before their scheduled session.
  • Poster material must be removed from the board immediately after the lunch session on the day of your presentation.  Posters left up beyond this time may be removed by the hotel staff and may be lost.
  • Each poster session lasts 2 hours.  Presenters are expected to be available beside their poster for 1 hour so that questions may be asked and answered. Poster session dates and times are as follows:
