Membership Become a Member

Membership in the Shock Society is available to those individuals with an interest in any aspect of shock, trauma, or critical care medicine.  The mission of the Shock Society is to improve the care of victims of trauma, shock, and sepsis using a multidisciplinary approach to promote basic science and translational research and provide education and mentoring to new investigators.  Activities directed toward the Society’s mission include:

  • An interactive website with employment and research resources as well as links to other allied organizations
  • Annual conference on shock and trauma featuring relevant symposia, oral abstracts, and poster presentations
  • New Investigator Competition and up to 40 Travel awards for trainees to attend and present abstracts at the annual conference on Shock
  • Two unique awards: The Diversity Enhancement Award and the Meet the Society Award to help underrepresented trainees to attend the annual meeting and join the Shock Society
  • Shock Society Research Fellowship for Early Career Investigators ($60,000 over two years)
  • Combined International meetings: Every four years the North American Shock Society and the International Federation of Shock Societies (IFSS) hold a joint meeting that features cutting edge research from dynamic international and domestic scientists.  

 SHOCK is the official publication of the North American/United States Shock Society.  The cost of membership is $220 for a full membership (U.S.), $265 (international), which includes a subscription to the Shock (online or print).  Student memberships are $170 with journal subscription and $50 without.  Individuals may apply online or in writing by downloading the Society’s membership application here.
